  • An investigation of communications practices between the sterile processing/CS and the OR staff.
  • Recommendations for the appropriate level and distribution of the CS/sterile processing and supply distribution staffing based upon the assigned mission, functions, and the workload of the department.
  • Evaluation of the current and required education and training needs of the staff to execute required duties.
  • Review of productivity measurement activities in the department, with observations on shift and individual staff differentials.
  • An analysis of the organizational and leadership structure of the CS/sterile processing department, including a perspective on the strengths and weaknesses of individual staff personnel.
  • Analysis of error rates in the performance of work for surgical services.
  • Review and comment on the level of instrumentation that is either "lost" or requires repair before it can be reused.
